PowerAngle Stringing DIAGONAL STRINGING INSTRUCTIONS

STRINGING POWERANGLE RACKETS TAKES LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES TO LEARN.
STRINGING POWERANGLE TAKES THE SAME TIME AS STRINGING CONVENTIONAL.

GETTING STARTED
EQUIPMENT
You will need a starting clamp if using a machine equipped with swivel clamps. On stringing machines that
have sharp edges on the posts at 6 and 12 o'clock, put tape or plastic tubes over the posts to protect the
diagonals that contact the backs of the posts.

On machines with glide bars, do not use the clamps on the glide bars, but use two PowerAngle floating clamps.
TENSION RANGES
The product development team at PowerAngle has determined that diagonal stringing produces a tighter stringbed
than conventional stringing. The tension ranges for all PowerAngle Rackets strung on various machines are:

For Ektelon, Prince Neos stringing machines, and other machines that clamp the racket at 12 and 6 o'clock:
Tension Range: 52-62 pounds (23.6-28 kilograms)

For all other machines, including constant pull, electric and drop-weight machines that have 4-point or 6-point
mounting systems:
Tension Range: 45-54 pounds (20.4-24.5 kilograms)
WARNING: The maximum allowable tension is 54 pounds.
STRING
PowerAngle recommends using 40 feet of 17 gauge PowerAngle Duo-Color™ TNT Synthetic Gut,
half-black and half-white string, which changes color at the mid-point. However, any string can be used.
MOUNTING
PowerAngle Rackets have black and white numerals around the frame to show the path of the diagonals. Mount the frame on your stringing machine with the numerals facing up. White numerals show right diagonals (white=right), which slant from the head of the racket down to the right. Black numerals show left diagonals (black=left), which slant from the head of the racket down to the left. Shared grommets display two numerals.
STARTING
For all PowerAngle Rackets, start the mains at the head.
NUMBER OF DIAGONALS
16 x 16: PowerAngle PRO
18 x 18: PowerAngle CENTRIC
19 x 19: PowerAngle GRAND
CAUTION
Alternate weaving and tensioning diagonals in opposite directions.
Never weave more than two diagonals ahead on either side.

STRINGING POWERANGLE WITH SWIVEL CLAMPS
NO SPECIAL CLAMPS ARE NEEDED ON SWIVEL CLAMP MACHINES.
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE APPROVED AND USED BY THE U.S.R.S.A.

STEPS 1 & 2

Swivel - Steps 1 & 2 At the head of the frame, locate where "START" is labeled on the inside of the hoop. Insert ends of the string through grommets marked black "1" and white "1". Continue by threading the left diagonals through the grommet holes marked with black numerals 2, 3, and 4, and weave the right diagonals using the grommet holes marked with white numerals 2, 3, and 4. Attach the starting clamp to the second white (right) diagonal string, outside frame. Then, tension the second black (left) diagonal and attach a swivel clamp. Next, pull tension on the second white (right) diagonal, remove the starting clamp, and attach the other clamp.

STEPS 3 & 4

Swivel - Steps 3 & 4 Weave and then tension the third diagonal on each side. Pull tension toward the throat, and hold tension with swivel clamps, at holes marked "6".
STEPS 5 & 6

Swivel - Steps 5 & 6 Weave diagonals toward the head and then weave toward the throat. Pull tension toward the throat, and clamp with swivel clamps. Alternate the stringing of two diagonals in each direction to prevent frame from warping. CAUTION: Never tension more than two diagonals ahead on either side.

STEPS 7, 8, 9 & 10

Swivel - Steps 7 & 8 When swivel clamps get too close together in the throat area, pull next diagonal string toward the head. Attach the starting clamp and/or floating clamp to hold tension until swivel clamps switch direction.
Swivel - Steps 9 & 10 CAUTION: Lower tension to 45 pounds before pulling the last diagonal to avoid cracking the frame! Tie off at "KNOT" locations on each frame.

STRINGING POWERANGLE WITH CLAMPS ON GLIDE BARS
GLIDE BAR MACHINES USE TWO POWERANGLE DIAGONAL FLOATING
CLAMPS TO HOLD TENSION ON DIAGONALS.
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE APPROVED AND USED BY THE U.S.R.S.A.
STEP 1

Glide Bar - Step 1 Don't use your machine's glide bar clamps, instead use two PowerAngle floating clamps to hold tension on diagonals. At the head of the frame, locate where "START" is labeled on the inside of the hoop. Insert ends of the string through grommets marked black "1" and white "1". Continue by threading the left diagonals through the grommet holes marked with black numerals 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and weave the right diagonals using the grommet holes marked with white numerals 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Apply tension to the first two diagonals together, then tension each of the third diagonals individually, and hold tension with the PowerAngle floating clamps as shown in Step 2.

STEP 2

Glide Bar - Step 2 Put the first clamp (shown in red) on first and second right diagonals near top. Tension the first and second left diagonals. Attach the second clamp near top, then tension the third left diagonals and move the second clamp (as shown in black) onto the second and third left diagonals (as shown above).

STEP 3

Glide Bar - Step 3 Tension second right diagonal, and re-attach first clamp near top. Next, tension third right diagonal, attach clamp near the hole marked white "6".

STEP 4

Glide Bar - Step 4 Alternate weaving two diagonals in each direction, pulling tension on each string. CAUTION: Never tension more than two diagonals ahead on either side. CAUTION: Lower tension 5 pounds before pulling the last diagonal to avoid cracking the frame!

STEP 5

Continue stringing until each diagonal is inserted.
The number of diagonals in each direction is stated inside throat area.
Tie off at "KNOT" locations on each frame.

VIBRATION DAMPENERS

PowerAngle Vibration Dampeners
After stringing is complete, insert the two PowerAngle diamond-shaped vibration dampeners
above the two diamond logos on the inside of the bottom of the hoop (as shown in photo).
Turn each dampener 90 degrees to lock it in place.
STENCILING

PowerAngle Diamond Stencil The PowerAngle logo is a large red diamond. On both sides of the racket, ink the outer two diagonals red all the way around the racket frame.
